Sammendrag
Ship-structure collision frequency can be low in the marine environment. However, the consequencies of such a collision can be catastrophic with serious damages both on the ship and structure and loss of lives.A quantitative determination of collision risk of ship to structure is recommended for the assessment of safety navigation and designing structures.
This paper focuses on the methodologies in the literature to estimate ship impact loads based on the speedand the mass of the ships, understading the risk assessment methods that descibe accidental probabilityfor offshore and coastal structures In addition, the paper also identifies the hazards that may lead to shipramming and their effect on the probability of collision.
