Dimensjonering av en kaikonstruksjon i betong
Abstract
This bachelor thesis addresses the design of a concrete quay structure in Skogn, in Levanger municipality, with Norsk Konstruksjonsrådgivning AS as an external advisor. The structure does not function as a quay since no ships will be moored, however, it will be designed and constructed as an open concrete quay structure. It consists of end-bearing steel pipe piles filled with reinforced concrete in the ground and load-bearing concrete beams stretched over the piles with a deck laid on top. The location is coastal and thus a weather-exposed area. The quay will be used for industrial purposes, thereby requiring a high load capacity. Given these preconditions, the objective of the thesis is to design the main components of an open quay structure according to applicable regulations and standards.
The project includes calculations of the loads the structure will be subjected to and the design of the main components. The group has designed the deck, beams, piles, rear beam, and transition plate, and performed a capacity check on the friction plate. The scope of this project has been adapted to the intended workload, and therefore some limitations have been made to meet these requirements.
The design has been carried out using manual calculations in Maple, along with Focus. These results has been compared to Ove Sletten. The results are based on requirements from the Eurocode, while also meeting guidelines from the handbooks of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
In the concluding part of the bachelor thesis, the results and decisions made throughout the project are discussed and reviewed. In this context, alternative solutions are considered and discussed, while the group reflects on how different approaches lead to various outcomes.
