Casestudie for å se på mulige suksessfaktorer for vellykket overføring av resultat fra prosjekt til basisorganisasjon

Abstract

I denne masteroppgaven har jeg jobbet med en casestudie for å se på mulige suksessfaktorer for å lykkes godt med overlevering av resultat fra prosjekt til basisorganisasjon. Jeg har hatt en eksplorerende/deskriptiv (utforskende/kartleggende) tilnærming til problemstillingen, og studien er basert på kvalitativ metode. Datainnsamling er gjennomført ved hjelp av intervjuer av utvalgte informanter i organisasjonen. Casestudien er basert på 2 prosjekter i organisasjonen som anses å ha lykkes med å gjennomføre en god overlevering for å se på hva de konkret har gjort som har fungert godt. Fokus har i hovedsak vært på applikasjonsprosjekter. Jeg har gjort datainnsamling ved å intervjue prosjektleder og mottagende linjeleder knyttet til disse prosjektene. I tillegg har jeg gjennomført noen intervjuer for å avdekke generelle betraktninger rundt problemstillingen fra relevante roller i organisasjonen som har erfaring med prosjekter i form av oppfølging og overtagelse av prosjektleveranser. Det er et bevisst valg å jobbe med suksessfaktorer for å lykkes, da jeg ønsker en positiv tilnærming til en problemstilling knyttet til overføring av resultat fra prosjekt til basis. Hensikten med oppgaven er å kunne gi læring tilbake til organisasjonen slik at identifiserte suksessfaktorer kan adopteres til andre prosjekter som kjøres i organisasjonen. Det kan gi organisasjonen merverdi i form av enda flere vellykkede overleveringer fra prosjekt til basis. Resultatene og analysen fra intervjuene viser at alle informantene mener dette er en interessant og relevant problemstilling. Det som i hovedsak er gjennomgående funn i denne studien er at suksessfaktorer for å lykkes er tidlig involvering av basisorganisasjonen fra tidlig fase i prosjektet, samt god samhandling og dialog mellom prosjekt og basis. Sikre eierskap og forankring i basisorganisasjonen er også vesentlig, samt at det sørges for tilstrekkelig opplæring og kompetanse i basisorganisasjonen slik at basis er i stand til å ta i mot resultatene fra prosjektet og forvalte disse videre på en god måte.

In this thesis I have worked on a case study in which the purpose is to look at possible success factors when the goal is to succeed on transferring a project result to the base organization. I have chosen an exploring/descriptive approach to the issue, and the study is based on a qualitative methodology. The data collection was done by interviewing selected informants in the relevant organization. The case study is based on two projects that are considered successful considering project transfer in the organization, to look at what actually worked well. The main focus has been on application projects. I have completed the data collection by interviewing the project manager and the head of the receiving unit in the base organization for these projects. I have also completed some interviews to detect general considerations linked to the issue. I spoke with relevant roles that have experience from projects considering project delivery follow-ups and takeovers in the organization. The choice to work with success factors is intentional, as I prefer a positive approach to an issue concerning the transmission of results from project to base. The purpose of the thesis is to convey knowledge back to the organization, so that identified success factors can be adopted into other current projects in the organization. This might contribute to give the organization added value in the form of even more successful transmissions from project to base. The results and the analysis following the interviews show that all informants find the thesis´ issue both interesting and relevant. The main findings in this study is that the most important success factors, in the case of successful transmissions from project to base, are involving the base organization at an early stage of the project, and good interaction and dialog between project and base. Ensuring ownership in the base organization is also crucial, along with sufficient training and competence in the base organization. These are preconditions that make the base organization capable of handling the results from projects, and to manage these in an expedient manner.
