Effektiviseringen av prosessen betrakter effektiviseringskonseptene Last Planner System, Prosent
dc.description.abstract | The report is a master thesis that seeks to produce results to cover the issue: How to streamline the
engineering process? With the research questions: What is the design process? What are the
challenges in the design process? How can the design process be streamlined? The focus is towards
the Norwegian building and construction industry, although there is input from several industries
and countries through the used literature.
The research method is divided into research process, design and methodology where the results
are obtained through a defined process, a specific design and a methodically based on an analysis
of the issue. The data collecting methods are literature search, interviews and observation, where a
specific methodology for the data collection, reduction and analysis was developed to increase the
results reliability, validity and objectivity.
The design process emerges as complex, intricate and can be regarded from different approaches.
The process is overall a part of the buildings lifecycle, includes several of the buildings phases and
is a part of the construction process. Subordinate, it consists of the creation, production, and decision
making process, with different dependencies. The creation and production process are consecutive
or overlapping, bound together by the decision making process, but also holds a separate internal
decision making process, which means that the decision making process is integrated into
everything. The contributors and participants use of predefining models and unique concepts are
although varying.
The challenges of the engineering process are diverse, where the biggest challenges are implied to
the engineering organization and planning- and management processes. The challenges are at the
strategic, tactical and operational levels of varying magnitude. The biggest challenges are related to
planning, information flow, collaboration, communication, and systematization/structuring.
The efficiency of the process considers the efficiency concepts Last Planner System, Percent
Planned Completed measurements, Building Information Modelling and Integrated Concurrent
Engineering meetings. It appears that the concepts already are activated with good results, but that
there are possibilities for further streamlining. The efficiency measures are proposed as a holistic
approach with increasing structure capital and project framework to achieve the highest impact.
