Abstract
Devinco AS is a leading provider of integrated mobile solutions. In this bache-lor thesis, the scope will focus on their product ViaTracks, an automatic electronicdriving book. The problem statement presented by the client involves develop-ing a solution to detect ferry trips in ViaTracks with greater accuracy than theirexisting solution. This solution is a proof of concept where sequential neural net-works are used to accuratly classify ferry trips and normal driven trips on land.
Several neural network models of the types RNN (Recurrant Neural Networks),LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) and GRU (Gated Recurrant Unit) were ex-plored. Within these methods, bidirectional versions of RNN, LSTM and GRUwere also investigated for higher accuracy. Throughout the process, an agile de-velopment methodology was used, with sprints and weekly feedback used for moreefficient work. The solution achieved high accuracy in regard to the requirementsset at the beginning of the project.
