A secure Internet of Things platform specialized for use in the Norwegian educational system

Abstract

Tingenes internett (IoT) har blitt en veldig viktig teknologi over de siste 10 årene. Likeve, mens teknologi som IoT vokser frem raskt kan utdanningen innenfor temaet ligge litt bak. IoT systemer er kompliserte å sette opp og ta i bruk. I Norge er det ikke mange lovlige alternativer for IoT-plattformer til utdanning. Ingen komersielt tilgjengelig plattform støtter det nasjonale autentikasjons systemet FEIDE. Siden FEIDE ikke støttes kan det heller ikke gjennom FEIDE dokumenteres at kravene satt av EU GDPR og WCAG etterkommes. I tillegg finnes det heller ingen IoT-plattform med full støtte for det norske språk. Utfordringene ved å utvikle en lovlig IoT-platform for bruk i norsk utdanning er mange og vanskelige. I denne avhandlingen var de fleste av disse utfordringene løst og en norsk IoT-platform er utdanning er nærmere en realitet.

Internet of Things (IoT) has become a very important technology over the last decade. But as technology like IoT progresses quite quickly, the education of it can lag behind. IoT systems are complicated to setup and use. In Norway there are not many legal alternatives of IoT-platforms for educational purposes. No widely available platform supports the national educational login FEIDE, and can document trough FEIDE the compliance of EU GDPR as well as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. In addition no IoT-platforms are in the Norwegian language. The tasks of creating a compliant IoT-platform for use in norwegian education are many and difficult. In this thesis they were mostly solved and a Norwegian IoT-platform for education is close to a reality.
