Masteroppgaven omhandler tematikken rundt nettverksbygging gjennom verdensutstillingerog industri messer. Basert på Norges paviljong ved Dubai Expo 2020 og norske bedrifter somdeltok på denne verdensutstillingen. Her vil oppgaven se på teorier relatert til strategiskkoblings og hvordan dette brukes i praksis, oppgaven vil hovedsakelig relateres til hvordanstrategisk kobling relateres til tilhørighet, markedsposisjon og verdiskapning. For å skaffe ettdypere innsyn for hvordan dette fungerer i praksis har tre representanter fra norske bedriftersom deltok ved Dubai Expo 2020 blitt intervjuet i forhold til deres bedrift deltakelse ogforventninger til denne verdensutstillingen.Videre ser oppgaven på hvordan bedriftenes oppfatning sammenlignes med bruk avnettverksbygging strategier for verdensutstilling og industri messer, og hvordan to forskjelligeformer for internasjonale utstillinger påvirker bedriftenes valg for nettverksbygging gjennomutstillingene. Dette vil bli sett på i forhold til bedriftenes meninger og forventningergjennomgått i intervjuene, og sett i samhold til hvordan dette relateres til teori og forskningsom eksisterer på dette område per dags dato, men og hvordan teori ikke alltid stemmer medpraksis. The master's thesis builds on the thematic of network building through world exhibitions andindustry fairs. Based on Norway's pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 and Norwegian companies’participation in this world exhibition. The thesis will look at theories related to strategiccoupling and how this is used in practice, the thesis will mainly relate to how strategiccoupling is related to affiliation, market share and value creation. To gain a deeper insight intohow this works in practice, three representatives from Norwegian companies that participatedat Dubai Expo 2020 were interviewed in relation to their company’s participation andexpectations for this world exhibition.Furthermore, the thesis looks at how the companies’ perceptions are compared with thetheoretical use of networking strategies for world exhibitions and industry fairs, and how twodifferent forms of international exhibitions affect companies' choices for networking throughthese exhibitions. This will be looked at in relation to the companies' opinions andexpectations with data from the interviews and seen in accordance with how this relates totheory and research that exists in this area to date, but also company practice may differ fromthe theoretical aspects and findings.
