Postoperativ smertebehandling
Bakgrunn
En norsk studie viser at fire av ti pasienter som har gjennomgått kirurgiske inngrep har plagsomme smerter det første postoperative døgn. Inadekvat postoperativ smertebehandling er en stor belastning for helsetjenester.
Hensikt
Hensikten med denne oppgaven er å belyse hvordan sykepleier kan bidra til god postoperativ smertebehandling til voksne pasienter på sykehus.
Metode
Litteraturstudie er basert på åtte utvalgte forskningsartikler.
Resultat
Resultatet av litteraturstudien har tre hovedkategorier som viser hvilke faktorer som påvirker den postoperative smertebehandlingen. (1) bruk av kartleggingsverktøy, (2) sykepleieres holdninger og kompetanse i postoperativ smertebehandling og (3) kommunikasjon og tillit i smertebehandling.
Konklusjon
Systematisk smertekartlegging er et viktig tiltak for å oppnå adekvat og individuell smertebehandling. Funnene i oppgaven viser at det er behov for å øke sykepleieres og pasienters kunnskap og holdninger rundt smertekartlegging og smertebehandling. Etablering av menneske-til-menneske forholdet og gjensidig forståelse og kontakt er grunnleggende.

Postoperative pain management
Background
A study conducted in Norway shows that four out of ten patients who have undergone surgery have bothersome pain in the first postoperative day. Inadequate postoperative pain management is a large load on healthcare services.
Aim
The purpose of this thesis is to illustrate how nursing can contribute to good postoperative pain treatment for adult patients at the hospital.
Method
A literature study based on eight reseacrh studies.
Results
The results of the literature study reveals which factors influence postoperative pain treatment. (1) use of pain scale, (2) nurses´ attitudes and competence in postoperative pain treatment and (3) communication and trust in pain treatment.
Conclusion
Systematic pain assessment is an important measure to achieve adequate and individual pain treatment. The findings show that there is a need to increase nurses and patients knowledge and attitudes in pain assessment and pain treatment. Establishing a human-to-human relationship and mutual understanding and contact are fundamental.
