dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to extend the "Minskyan" long-term crisis model introduced in Andresen (2018) to include an endogenous financialisation coefficient, instead
of as an exogenous function of time, and explore how it affects the response of the system. More specifically how financialisation affects the build-up, and severity, of economic
crises, as well as how they can be avoided. The argument made in Andresen (2018) that
high financialisation in an economy is a major contributing factor to the dynamics that
lead to the crises of slow and long-term economic cycles, is further strengthened by the
introduction of the endogenous financialisation coefficient. Different proposals for the implementation of the coefficient will be explored, and then implemented by utilizing the
tools of system dynamics and control theory to construct a reasonable model proposal.
Finally the model is simulated, and the results analyzed and compared to the corrected
simulations of Andresen (2018). The result of implementing the financialisation coefficient endogenously, was an economy in which the collapse was accelerated. Additionally,
it was shown that an increase in pessimism when crisis was imminent did not have a major
effect on the final result: the collapse still happened, though slightly delayed. | |
svakt forsinket. | |
