Abstract
This bachelor thesis has been written in collaboration with Hexagon Agility. The companyproduces natural gas and hydrogen fuel systems and 4 type composite cylinders for heavyduty commercial vehicles. The research question for this thesis is “How can the flow ofgoods into Agility be optimized, by the use of German supplier” The procedure used in thisstudy has been an exploratory research design with quantitative methods. We haveconducted interviews with employees within Agility and have contacted logistics serviceproviders to gather primary data, theories and books are used to gather secondary data tohave a good ground in the analysis.
The basis of data is linked to relevant theory of lead time and risk. The theory is linked totheory of safety stock, ERP systems, lead time risk, third party logistics and risk analysis. We have also used SWOT analysis tools to strategically design and map the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of third-party logistics suppliers. We have collectedand analyzed offers from 3 third-party logistics suppliers to answer the research question.
Initially, the result presents what has been prioritized by the current supplier based inLincoln, followed by which factors from here are beneficial to prioritize in the transition tothe supplier in Kassel. This thesis is focused on the following 3 third-party logisticssuppliers DSV, Toten transport and DHL. Whom progressed from the pre-qualification.Based on the analyzation of Hexagon Lincoln and predictions that have emerged ininterviews, the thesis will present which supplier will be the best choice for Agility.
The selection of carrier is based on who provides the lowest price, lowest risk, best leadtime and the least communicational difficulties weighted through a SWOT analysis. Theconclusion is that the further development of the collaboration with DSV will be the mostbeneficial for Agility. DSV had the best offer based on the criteria the task was based on
