| dc.description.abstract | Tidligfasene er hos entreprenør en viktig og avgjørende del for gjennomføring av byggeprosjekter. Kommunikasjon og informasjonsflyt er en vesentlig del av arbeidshverdagen i tidligfase, og har stor betydning for utvikling av byggeprosjekter. Det er i tidligfase prosjektets premisser utarbeides og i størst grad kan påvirkes. For å få tak i og formidle den informasjonen som behøves er kommunikasjon og god informasjonsflyt avgjørende. Som et ledd i arbeidet med å bedre bransjens effektivitet og lønnsomhet presenterer litteraturen økt digitalisering som en klar løsning.
Et klart formål med denne rapporten er å øke kunnskapen om kommunikasjon og informasjonsflyt i entreprenørens tidligfase, og hvordan dette kan forbedres ved bruk av digitale verktøy. For å bidra til dette er betydningen av kommunikasjon og informasjonsflyt i kalkulasjons- og prosjekteringsprosessene kartlagt. Videre er utfordringer knyttet til dette og muligheter for økt bruk av digitale verktøy undersøkt for å bidra til å besvare rapportens formål.
Arbeidet er gjennomført ved bruk av forskningsmetodene litteraturstudium, kvalitative intervjuer og deltakende observasjon. Litteraturstudiet har bidratt til å finne relevant litteratur knyttet til rapportens problemstilling. Hensikten med bruk av kvalitative intervjuer og deltakende observasjon har vært å etablere direkte kontakt med feltet og få innsikt i deres arbeidshverdag. Det er totalt gjennomført elleve intervjuer med personer som arbeider i eller har god kunnskap til kalkulasjons- og prosjekteringsprosessen.
Resultatene viser at god kommunikasjon og informasjonsflyt er av stor betydning, og en stor del av hverdagen i de tidlige prosjektprosessene. Det brukes i dag en rekke ulike kommunikasjonskanaler, både analoge og digitale, for å dele informasjon. Hvilke kanaler som benyttes til hvilken informasjon har vist seg svært varierende, og variasjonen sees på som en av de største utfordringene for helhetlig flyt av informasjon. I tillegg er ting som overføring, tidsperspektivet i tidligfase, rolleforståelse, digital kompetanse og manglende retningslinjer utfordrende for kommunikasjonsprosessen.
For å bedre informasjonsflyten mellom de ulike aktørene i tidligfase må det etableres retningslinjer og struktur for bruken av digitale verktøy. Som et ledd i den digitale utviklingen er det i denne rapporten utviklet et rammeverk med navnet "Digi-O". Dette rammeverket har til hensikt å strukturere og samle informasjon på en mer helhetlig måte enn hva som gjøres i dag. De digitale hovedelementene i rammeverket er et samarbeidsverktøy, en modell i flere dimensjoner og et kalkyleverktøy. Disse elementene skal sammen samle og utveksle informasjonen, og gi en helhetlig forståelse for det som skal utarbeides. De digitale elementene bindes sammen av det menneskelige aspektet hvor informasjon produseres i form av eksempelvis møter eller dialog.
Rammeverket kan også brukes som et grunnlag for det digitale utviklingsarbeidet hos entreprenør. Ved å digitalisere informasjonsutvekslingen mellom rammeverkets hovedelementer kan det bidra til å forenkle arbeidsprosessene i tidligfase og redusere mulighetene for feil. Rammeverket kan på den måten bidra til å redusere flere av dagens fremtredende utfordringer. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The early stages are important and decisive parts to carry out projects as a contractor. Communication and information flow are essential parts of the workday in the early stages, which huge effects to the development of a project. It is in the early stages a project’s terms are worked out and are easy to affect. To obtain and transfer the necessary information, communication and good information flow are crucial. As a part of the work to improve the efficiency and the profitability of the industry, the literature presents increased digitalization as a obvious solution.
One of the purposes of this report is to increase the knowledge about communication and information flow in the contractor’s early project stages, and how this can be improved by applying digital aids. In order to contribute to this, the significance of communication and information flow in the cost estimation- and building design process are mapped. Furthermore, this report study challenges related to this in addition to opportunities of increasing the use of digital aids, which will contribute to answering the purpose of this report.
The study is conducted by applying the following research methods: literature study, qualitative interviews, and participative observations. The literature review has contributed to find relevant literature related to the report’s main research question. Qualitative interviews and participative observations are used with the aim to communicate with the participants within the field in addition to gain an insight in their everyday working life. There has been conducted eleven interviews with people that work within or have a satisfactory knowledge about the cost estimation- and building design process.
The results show that good communication and information flow are of great importance, and they make up a considerable part of the earlier project processes. In order to share information nowadays, several communication channels are used, both analogue and digital. However, the channels used for the various information have been mixed, and the variations are looked upon as one of the largest challenges of an integrated flow. In addition to this, elements of transferring, the time frame in the early stages, the role understanding, digital competence, and lack of guidelines are challenging for the communication process.
In order to improve the information flow between the different actors in the early project stages, there has to be established guidelines and a structure for applying digital aids. It is developed a framework named “Digi-O” as a part of the digital development, and the framework intends to structure and collect information in a more comprehensive way compared to nowadays. The digital main elements of the framework are the following: collaboration tool, project model in several dimensions, and cost estimation tool. These elements are tied together by the human aspect where information may be produced through meetings or dialogue.
The framework may also be used as a foundation of the contractor’s digital development. By digitalizing the information exchange between the main elements of the framework, it is possible to simplify the work processes and reduce the possibility of error in the early project stages. Thus, the framework can reduce several of today’s prominent challenges. | |
