In this thesis the Virtual Ideal Functionality Framework (VIFF) has been used for implementing practical applications based on multiparty computation (MPC). The work started with a theoretical study of secret sharing and multiparty computation. VIFF, its functionality and mode of operation were also thoroughly investigated. In addition, an overview of electronic voting, challenges and typical security requirements have been briefly examined. The background study led to the development of two applications. The first was a small GUI program in which participants on some scientific paper can vote for their choice of 1th, 2th, 3th, etc. author. The second was a secure web voting application accessible from the world wide web.nb_NO
