This project is given to me as a master-degree thesis, for the signal processinggroup at NTNU and WideNorth AS. The intention is to get a better understandingof how efficient and reliable different sample timing algorithms areat high data rates in a satellite communication system. In this project andreport I try to build a simulation system for communication over an averagedwhite noise channel, with different sample timing algorithms at the receiver side.The project started out, reading up on sample timing, understanding thesignal processing and theory behind. As this is quite the field to research, thistook time. I must give a huge thank you to the Mathworks team, as the matlablibrary has been a rescue, although not always easy to import into your owncode. Programming in matlab compared to a lot of other languages makes a lottrivial.This report shows how to set up the framework given in [1]. A brief introductionis given, the theory is shown in the Theory section and the matlabcode has been commented in the Matlab implementation section. The resultsof timing correction using different timing recovery algorithms are shown in it srespective section. A short conclusion with commenting on future work is thenpresented.
