dc.description.abstract | The initial aim of this master thesis was to assess alternative ways of teaching sign language to the hearing by using a virtual reality based learning system with gesture recognition.
These four objectives were identified:
1. Assess the feasibility of using virtual reality as the basis for a learning system for teaching sign language
2. Assess the feasibility of using signs from Norwegian sign language as input in the learning system
3. Assess the technology acceptance of the virtual reality learning system initself
4. Assess the technology acceptance of a virtual reality system compared to a web/mobile/desktop hybrid system.
All these objectives have been positively confirmed during the project period | en |
