Modelling and testing of thick aluminium castings under impact loadings
Abstract
The main task of this thesis is to evaluate the capacity of a novel modellingapproach for aluminium casting to describe the behaviour and failure of an aluminium rimunder dynamic loadings. The thesis work will involve the design of a test rig for thedynamic testing of aluminium rims. A typical aluminium rim supplied by Audi will be used.The kicking machine available at the Department of Structural Engineering will be acentral tool for the development of the component tests.
