dc.description.abstract | The challenge to calculate the response statistics of nonlinear, compliant offshore structures subjected to a random seaway is still substantial. The topic has been studied intensively for decades, and a substantial amount of work has been done to derive methods for eficient analysis of these processes for engineering applications. The main object in this thesis is calculating the mean level upcrossing rate of such response processes. Since the mean upcrossing rate is a key parameter for estimating the large and extreme responses, it is clearly of importance to develop methods for its calculation. | nb_NO |
