The major aims of the present work were to investigate the impact of a comprehensive palliative care intervention on advanced cancer patients' quality of life, location of care and place of death. Secondly, we aimed at analysing and describing the methodology that was used to enable a careful evaluation of the results and to make our experience useful for future researchers. The tertiary aims were to investigate patient related factors that may affect quality of life in advanced cancer, or that may be associated with death outside the traditional arenas of palliative care, i.e. in nursing homes.nb_NO
