Teksturer i keramikk

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven er en kvalitativ studie som utforsker teknikker for å skape teksturuttrykk på vaser i leire. Målet med læringsprosessen er å identifisere aktuelle teknikker og undersøke hvordan dette arbeidet kan fremme skaperglede, engasjement og utforskertrang for elever i skolen.

Forskningsprosjektets problemstilling er: Hvilke teknikker egner seg for produksjon av teksturuttrykk på vaser i keramikk? Problemstillingen undersøkes gjennom tre forskningsspørsmål: Hvilke verktøy og materialer egnes i prosessen? Hvilken arbeidsmåte er hensiktsmessig i prosessen? Hvilke didaktiske potensial har studien i forhold til «skaperglede, engasjement og utforskertrang»?

Det praktiske arbeidet i verksted med leire utgjør hovedgrunnlaget for mine funn i denne masteroppgaven, som gjennomføres med en praksisledet metodologi og en fenomenologisk vitenskapelig tilnærming. Arbeidet dokumenteres med skriftlig logg samt bilder og video. Funnene fra det praktiske arbeidet analyseres gjennom en skulpturanalyse av formalestetiske virkemidler i vasene og en tematisk analyse av logg.

I tillegg til de praktiske funnene, vil jeg drøfte mine erfaringer fra læringsprosessen sammen med relevant litteratur om leire, tekstur, kreativitet og estetisk læring. Hensikten med denne masteroppgaven er både å finne egnede teknikker for å skape teksturuttrykk. Samtidig ønsker jeg å belyse hvordan utforskingen av teksturer kan bidra til læring og hvilket potensial leire har som materiale for slik utforskning.

This master is a qualitative study exploring techniques for creating texture expressions on clay vases. The goal of the learning process is to identify relevant techniques and investigate how this work can promote creativity, engagement, and exploratory drive among students in schools.

The research project's main question is: Which techniques are suitable for producing texture expressions om ceramic vases? This question is examined through three research sub-questions: Which tools and materials are suitable for the process?, what working methodsis appropriate in the process? and what didactic potential does the study have concerning «creativity, engagement and explortory drive?

The practical work in the workshop with clay form the primary basis for my findings in this master's thesis, conducted with a practice-led methodology and a phenomenological scientific approach. The work is documented with written logs as well photos and videos. The findings from the practical work are analyzed through a sculpture analysis of the formal-aesthetic means in the vases and a thematic analysis of the logs.

In addition to the practical findings, I will discuss my experiences from the learning process along with relevant literature on clay, texture, creativity and aesthetic learning. The purpose of this master's thesis is both to find suitable techniques for creating texture expressions and to highlight how exploring textures can contribute to learning and the potential of clay as a material for such exploration.
