Utviklende prosesser i utforskende musikkskaping

Abstract

Sammendrag I denne masteroppgaven ser jeg på utvikling av egen kompetanse knyttet til musikkskaping. Dette gjør jeg gjennom en praktisk, kunstbasert prosess, som har resultert i skriving, innspilling og produksjon av min egen musikk. Dette knytter jeg opp mot følgende problemstilling:

Hvilke prosesser fremstår som utviklende i en kunstbasert, utforskende musikkskapingsprosess, og hvordan kan dette inspirere musikkundervisning?

Gjennom et sosialkonstruktivistisk kunnskapssyn tar jeg for meg hvordan jeg forstår kunnskap, og hvordan jeg knytter dette til arts based research. Prosjektets praktiske del består av utvikling av instrumental musikk. Ved å ta inspirasjon fra narrativ analyse, tar jeg for meg mitt praktiske arbeid gjennom dette masterprosjektet, og ser på hvilke elementer jeg ønsker å ta med videre inn i den skriftlige delen. Her tar jeg for meg fagteori knyttet til musikkskaping, musikkdidaktikk og musikkteknologi i skole- og undervisningssammenheng. Den skriftlige delen står i sammenheng med det praktiske arbeidet, hvor teori, praksis, og kunnskapsutvikling har hatt gjensidig påvirkning på hverandre. Det fokuseres på både musikkfaglige og didaktiske aspekter, og jeg retter mitt fokus mot musikklæreren i møte med musikkteknologi og musikkskaping. I den forbindelse ser jeg på betydningen sound og inspirasjon har hatt for min utvikling, og på hvilke måter dette kan tas i bruk for å legge til rette for autentiske læringsprosesser. Dette gjøres blant annet på grunnlag av TPACK-modellen, og en modell knyttet til gehørbasert innlæring av musikk. I tillegg, har jeg utviklet egne modeller som et resultat av prosessen. Dette ser jeg i sammenheng med hvilke didaktiske forutsetninger man har, og må forholde seg til for å kunne bidra til god og relevant undervisning.

Masterprosjektet består også av en praktisk del. Deler av det praktiske arbeidet brukes i teksten i form av linker til SoundCloud, hvor man som leser kan lytte til arbeidet jeg har gjort. Selve gjennomføringen av praktisk del fant sted ved grunnskolelærerutdanningen, NTNU Trondheim 23. mai 2024. Her hadde jeg det jeg valgte å kalle en workshop – en mini-utgave av min praktiske og kunstneriske prosess. Denne bestod av fremføring av min musikk, og et innblikk i mine arbeidsmetoder.

Abstract In this master's thesis, I examine the development of my own competence related to music creation. I do this through a practical, arts based process, which has resulted in the writing, recording, and production of my own music. This is connected to the following research question: What processes appear to be developmental in an arts-based, exploratory music creation process, and how can this inspire music education? From a social constructivist perspective, I explore how I understand knowledge and how I relate this to arts-based research. The project ́s practical part consists of the development of instrumental music. Inspired by narrative analysis, I look into my practical work throughout this master's project and identify the elements I want to include in the written part. Here, I address subject theory within music creation, music didactics, and music technology in school and teaching contexts. I link the written part to the practical work, where theory, practice, and knowledge development have mutually influenced each other. I focus on both musical and didactic aspects, and I direct my attention to the music teacher in the context of music technology and music creation. In this regard, I examine the significance that sound and inspiration have had for my development, and how these can be applied to facilitate authentic learning processes. This is done, among other things, based on the TPACK model and a model related to ear- based learning of music. Also, I have developed my own models as a result of the process. I look at this this in the context of the didactic conditions one has and must relate to in order to contribute to good and relevant teaching. The master's project also includes a practical part. Parts of the practical work are used in the text in the form of links to SoundCloud, where the reader can listen to the work I have done. The practical part was carried out at the primary school teacher education program, NTNU Trondheim, on May 23, 2024. Here, developed what I chose to call a workshop – a mini version of my practical and artistic process. This consisted of performances of my music and an insight into my working methods.
