Adapsjonen av J.R.R. Tolkiens Hobbiten til filmen Hobbiten: En uventet reise av Peter Jackson involverte inkorporeringen av materiale fra den opprinnelige romanen og Tolkiens senere arbeid. Gjennom ulike adapsjonsteorier, blir tilpasningsprosessen undersøkt og forskjellene mellom tekstuell og visuell fortelling fremhevet.
