Renoveringsprosess for friksjonselementer i friksjonskobling
Abstract
This bachelor's thesis is conducted by students at the department of mechanical and industrial engineering at NTNU Gjøvik, and focuses on creating a renovation process for friction elements in friction couplings located on a turbine at the Hogga hydropower plant. This process includes replacing the old asbestos-containing friction linings currently in the couplings. The focus is on developing a test rig to determine the necessary preload for the friction coupling with the new friction lining to withstand the water stream in the powerplant.
The function of the friction couplings in the power plant is to act as a yielding link for local overloads on guide vanes in the guide apparatus. These couplings must have the ability to hold back the water flow entering the runner while releasing if foreign objects find their way into the guide apparatus.
In this project, the necessary theoretical foundation concerning the existing friction couplings and their application in hydropower plants has been reviewed. Based on this, a test rig was designed to evaluate the function of newly upgraded friction couplings. The design of the rig allows testing in three different positions (closed, neutral, and open positions). To ensure deformations do not occur in the rig during the test, the necessary calculations have been carried out.
At the request of the task giver, detailed procedures will be developed to guide professionals in disassembly, assembly, and conducting tests on the test rig.
Through the execution of the test of the friction coupling, it will be clarified what necessary tension is required in the friction coupling so that these can be correctly installed in the power plant. After the test results from the test rig have been reviewed, disassembly and assembly procedures for the existing friction couplings in the pipe turbine will be formed. These procedures cover the entire renovation process for replacing the friction materials in the friction couplings.
The thesis concludes with a renovation process for the friction elements in a friction coupling, which Andritz Hydro AS will be able to use for the renovation process on the friction couplings located on the turbine at the Hogga hydropower plant.
