This work explores the unsettling phenomenon of right-wing extremism in Germany and its further increase in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. The investigation embarks on an expedition into Germany's socio-political landscape: It analyses the historical context of the phenomenon and identifies the factors that have contributed to the rise of right-wing extremism in the country. It explores the role of right-wing extremist parties in Germany, radicalization through social media, and public opinion in relation to the diagnosed growth of right-wing extremism. The study contributes, not least, to a better understanding of the global impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of extremism and emphasizes the urgency of addressing this issue in Germany as well as in other countries facing similar challenges.
