fylke[3].
I 2019 blei
andre. Maks tøyningforandring i dei ulike sensorane varierte frå 332-575 μm/m.
For eksempel
bru.
i hovudsak sensorane i same bjelke.
dc.description.abstract | This Master’s thesis explores the feasibility of detecting internal, imperceptible
damage in the Heroysund Bridge through the interpretation of strain measure-
ments. The thesis is based on a collaborative research project involving NTNU,
SINTEF Narvik, UiT - The Arctic University of Norway, the Norwegian Public
Roads Administration, and Nordland Fylkeskommune. The project primarily
focuses on the identification and evaluation of internal structural damages that
affect concrete bridges. Early identification and evaluation enable early-stage
maintenance interventions, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the bridge
structure and prolonging its overall lifespan.
The Heroysund bridge is a post-tensioned bridge [ 3] located in Nordland Fylkeskom-
mune. The bridge was built in 1966, connecting South Heroy and North Heroy.
The bridge consists of one bridge plate with two underlying structural beams.
It has a total length of 154.4 meters with a main span of 60 meters. The
bridge was designed according to load regulations 2/1958 [3] and was drawn and
dimensioned by Ingeniør Per Gulbrandsen A/S. In 2019, a substantial amount
of corrosion-related damage was observed on the supporting structure of the
bridge requiring reinforcement of the affected areas. Reinforcements were applied
utilizing carbon bands [ 3 ]. Further, to safeguard against any continuing decay,
in a total of nine sensors were positioned on the bridge structure. Six sensors to
measure strain, two sensors to measure the width of two bridge crack openings,
and the last sensor measuring the bridge material’s thermal state. The six sensors
measuring strain were located on the main span, three sensors for every beam.
The sensors were installed and monitored by HBM Norway AS and discrete
measurements were made with a time frequency of 20 Hz.
In this thesis, the Heroysund bridge is represented in 3D by using a finite element
program called Diana FEA. In addition, a dedicated script in Python is developed
to process the digitized handwritten data and structural drawings made during
the bridge engineering phase. Using Diana FEA’s own programming language, a
3D model is developed. The 3D model includes the structural parts of the bridge,
excluding the normal reinforcement. The model is further validated against a
particular test carried out by HBM. The test entails subjecting the bridge to the
traversal of a 50-ton truck. The test resulted in a deflection of 33mm and 31mm
for the two underlying beams. The maximum strain values in the measuring
sensors varied from 332 to 575 μm/m. The 3D model of the Heroysund bridge,
subjected to a similar load, resulted in a deflection of 33.78mm and strain values
of around 150 μm/m. The values are evaluated as good results considering the
many uncertainties when measuring strain.
To determine the effect on the strain signal for various damages to the post-
tensioned reinforcement, two analyses were performed, one with only the weight
of the bridge, known as self-weight and one with a mobile load. In both cases,
the strain signals were assessed based on several different "damages" to the
reinforcement. For example, removing a post-tensioned cable or parts of the
cable. In the case of the self-weight, these changes were minimal. The greatest
deviation was when removing two prestressed cables, leading to a strain increase
of 8%, which corresponds to a strain change of about 27 μm/m. In comparison,
temperature changes in a day can lead to a change in strain measurements of
up to 100 μm/m [ 3]. From the case with the mobile load, the greatest variation
compared to a fully intact bridge was approximately 4.5%, corresponding to
a change in strain of about 15 μm/m. An interesting observation, however,
is how different strain values behave with various defects. If a small piece of
the post-tensioned reinforcement is removed, it is primarily the closest sensors
that reacts. The sensors placed in the same area as where the reinforcement is
removed will register increased strain, while sensors placed close but not in the
same area can get almost the same value but as reduced strain. The maximum
reduced strain was given as -4.16%. When removing an entire post-tensioned
cable, the change in strain becomes more similar in all sensors, and all sensors
will register an increase in strain, but this mainly applies to the sensors in the
same beam. Sensors in the beam that do not experience defects have a very
small strain change compared to the sensors in the beam with defects. | |
