Kunsten å feike arabisk (2021): Pasienten som tekst - Innsikter om autisme som kan supplere den medisinske vitensdiskurs

Abstract

Denne oppgaven tar utgangspunkt i Lina Limans Kunsten å feike arabisk (2021) for å undersøke (selvbiografiske) pasientfortellingers rolle i samspillet med legevitenskapen. Gjennom en litterær analyse vil oppgaven se nærmere på hvordan samspillet mellom en subjektiv fortelling fra pasienten og legens mer objektive pasientjournalnotat bidrar til dypere innsikt om autisme som kan supplere den medisinske vitensdiskurs. Overordnet kan Limans erfaringer bidra til å utfylle generelle beskrivelser i faglitteraturen og skape en bredere og mer mangfoldig forståelse av autisme. Ved å delta i pasientens narrative verden – og se teksten i sin helhet – kan legen få dypere innsikt i pasientens situasjon. På bakgrunn av dette ser jeg narrativ medisin som en sentral del av arbeidet om forbedring i helsevesenet med hensyn til feildiagnostisering- og behandling.

This thesis bases its approach on Lina Liman's Kunsten å feike arabisk (2021) to examine the role of (autobiographical) patient narratives in the interaction with medical science. Through a literary analysis, the thesis will take a closer look at how the interaction between a subjective narrative from the patient and the doctor's more objective patient record note contributes to a deeper insight into autism that can supplement the medical scientific discourse. Overall, Liman's experiences can help to complement general descriptions in the specialist literature and create a broader and more diverse understanding of autism. By participating in the patient's narrative world – and seeing the text in its entirety – one can gain a deeper insight into the patient's situation. Based on this, I see narrative medicine as a central part of the work on improvement in the healthcare system regarding misdiagnosis- and treatment.
