Moralsk stress blant sykepleiere

Abstract

Bakgrunn og hensikt: Moralsk stress oppstår når sykepleiere opplever etiske dilemmaer, og ikke har selvkontroll over situasjonen. Hensikten med oppgaven er å analysere funn for å finne ut av i hvilke arbeidssituasjoner sykepleiere opplever moralsk stress på somatiske avdelinger på sykehus. Disse funnene skal diskuteres opp mot relevant teori.

Metode: Et systematisk litteraturstudiet med en IMRAD struktur. Det har blir gjort et litteratursøk i ulike databaser for å finne forskningsartikler som svarer på problemstillingen. Sju forskningsartikler ble inkludert

Resultat: I analysedelen av oppgaven ble det utarbeidet tre hovedtemaer hvor sykepleiere opplevde moralsk stress: 1) Konflikt i behandling av pasient 2) Utfordringer relatert til samhandling med legene 3) Organisatoriske oppgaver som begrenser sykepleiere.

Konklusjon: Basert på resultatene var moralsk stress til stede i behandlingen av pasient, samhandling med legene, i mangel på ansatte og når det ble for mye administrative oppgaver hvor sykepleiere ikke hadde kapasitet til å være til stede for pasienten.

Background and purpose: Moral distress occurs when nurse’s experiences ethical dilemmas, and they do not have self-control to the situation. The purpose of the study is to analyze the article, to figure out in which working situations at somatic wards in the hospital moral distress occurs. These results will be discussed with relevant literature.

Method: A systematic literature study with an IMRAD structure. It has been done literature research in different databases to find research articles who answer the issue. Seven articles were included.

Results: In the analyses part of the paper, it was made three main subjects where nurses experienced moral distress: 1) Conflict when treatment of the patient 2) Challenges related to interaction with the physicians 3) Organizational tasks who limits the nurses.

Conclusion: Based on the results, moral distress was present in treatment of the patient, interaction with the physicians, lack of nurses, and to much workload where nurses did not have the capability to be there for the patient.
