Kunst som velter sandslott: Aristofanes' Skyene og Christian Krohgs Albertine

Abstract

Skyene av Aristofanes og Albertine av Christian Krohg er to ekesmpler av litteratur som ansees til å ha hatt en viss påvirkning på lokalsamfunnene. Ved å analysere disse kunstverkene kan en muligens prøve å forstå hva det nettopp var med dem som kunne ha provosert slike sterke reaksjoner? Denne bacheloroppgaven analyserer demoniseringen og sympatiserengen i disse to litterære verkene og argumenterer for viktigheten av nettopp disse aspektene når det gjelder deres potensielle effekt på samfunnet. Måten Sokrates blir demonisert som en sofist og gudsfornekter som ledet unge på gale stier kan ha bidratt til å gjøre Sokrates upopulær nok til at han senere kunne stilles for retten og dømmes til døden. Samtidig er hovedpersonen Albertine skrevet så sympatisk som mulig i forhold til et demonisert samfunn, slik at det skal vekke kraftige reaksjoner hos datidens lesere som var en del av dette samfunnet.

The Clouds by Aristophanes and Albertine by Christan Krohg are to examples of litterature which is considered to have somewhat of an effect on the local socities at their time of writing. By analyzing these pieces art one could perhaps try to understand exactly what it was with them which could have inspired such strong reactions. This Bachelor-thesis analyzes the uses demonization and symphatizing in these two works of litterature and argues for the imporatence of these aspects in terms of their potential effects on society. The way Socrates is demonized as a sophist and god-denier that corrupted the youth might have contributed to making him unpopular to the degree that he could be tried in court and sentenced to death. At teh same time the protagonist Albertine is written to be as sympathetic as possible in contrast to a demonized society, so as to inspire powerful reactions in the readers at the time which might have been a part of said society.
