Fremstillingen av bombingen av Namsos i lokalavisene

Abstract

Denne studien har hatt som mål å undersøke avisomtalen av bombingen av Namsos før, under og etter bombingen. Gjennom å drøfte avisenes fremstilling av hendelsen, har jeg presentert hendelsen som ledd i den tyske okkupasjonen av Norge. For å undersøke informasjonssituasjonen til avisene i de kaotiske aprildagene har jeg brukt Nasjonalbiblioteket aktivt for å hente ut datamateriale til min studie. Gjenoppbygging og frigjøring etter endt okkupasjonstid blir beskrevet gjennom undersøking av avisene, i tillegg til å kontekstualisere med sekundærlitteratur. Funnene sier at avisenes dekking av hendelsen kan beskrives som minimal, men omtalen kan tydes å være tilstrekkelig. Både i henhold til bombingen, men også gjenoppbyggingen, og årene etter hendelsen. Det kommer tydelig frem forskjeller mellom omtalene i aviser underlagt Nasjonal Samling, og aviser som er frittstående. I de sju avisene som omtaler bombingen er det noe sprik i kildene, og motstridende argumenter. Dette gjelder også sekundærlitteraturen, som stort sett baseres dybdeintervjuer av øyenvitner. I lys av all omtalen, og beskrivelsene av hendelsen i sekundærlitteraturen, har jeg forsøkt å diskutere avisomtalen, og den etterfølgende gjenoppbyggingen av byen.

This study aims to examine the newspaper coverage of the bombing of Namsos before, during, and after the bombing. By presenting the newspapers ́ portrayal of the event, I have contextualized the incident as part of the German occupation of Norway. To investigate the information situation of the newspapers during the chaotic days of April, I have actively utilized the National Library to extract data for my study. The reconstruction and liberation following the end of the occupation period are described through an analysis of the newspapers, as well as by contextualizing with secondary literature. The findings suggest that the newspapers' coverage of the event can be described as minimal, but the mention can be interpreted as sufficient. This applies to both the bombing itself and the subsequent reconstruction and post-event years. Clear differences emerge between the coverage in newspapers under the control of the National Unity Party and independent newspapers. In the study of seven different newspapers concerning the bombing of Namsos, there is some discrepancy in the sources, both regarding the newspapers' coverage and the secondary literature that has described the bombing. Considering all the coverage and descriptions of the event in secondary literature, I have attempted to discuss the newspaper coverage and the subsequent reconstruction of the city.
