In this bachelor thesis, we will take a closer look at how a company like NorEngros Johs Olsen AS can identify the interests of the target group in various topics, such as competence of the employees, ethical trade, and sustainability through advertisements on LinkedIn.
The theoretical foundation of the thesis is based on marketing, brand building, and market communication, before it targets the focus of the thesis, with theory based on social network and factors for brand building on LinkedIn. The thesis is also based on a collection of quantitative data to be used in a comparative analysis using regression analysis. Qualitative data has also been collected to validate the quantitative data.
The quantitative data is extracted from LinkedIn’s campaign administrator, where data such as the number of clicks and views per advertisement can be found. The regression analysis provides relatively clear indications that competence proves to be the most interesting for potential customers who saw the ad on LinkedIn.
In addition to data from LinkedIn, a survey was conducted among customers in the physical store of Johs Olsen in Gjøvik. This survey, which was conducted while most customers were at work, yielded other results. These customers were most concerned about ethical trade and sustainability, and least concerned about competence. Based on these differences, we have pointed out the possibility that the time of day and the setting in which the customers find themselves in, can influence how they evaluate the ads.
