Bærekraftig utvikling gjennom bevaring og innovasjon
Abstract
Through Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement, Norway has committed themself to halting climate change by 2030 and to be climate neutral by 2100. In order to achieve these goals, it is necessary to introduce measures in all sectors and cultural environment will be an important contributor in collaboration with others sectors. The building and construction sector accounts for 15,3 percent of Norway's total greenhouse gas emissions, there is great potential for reduction as 80 percent comes from building materials. In this context, the continued use, reuse and innovative re-use of existing buildings is promoted as an important area of focus.
To work towards this goal, building protection and energy saving are important. Building conservation ensures the continuation of historic climate adaptation, maintenance, traditional craftsmanship and knowledge of materials. Energy saving of existing buildings and cultural environments makes them competitive in relation to energy needs and comfort in new buildings. Together, this can help ensure that the buildings are used and maintained and that the resources tied up in them have an extended life cycle. Keeping resources in use for as long as possible will prevent major emissions and secure an economic basis over a long period of time, this is sustainable. Furthermore, cultural environment is brought forward as important aspects for good social conditions.
