Abstract
The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis has been to examine what causes a hesitant approach to the use of human skeletons in research and communication. Through a discussion that explains the influence of societal development on research ethical norms, the difference between national and international measures, the task also explains who ethical considerations take into account. Research ethical values are subjective and change over time. The results of the task show that there is hesitation in researching and communicating human skeletons due to current societal values and a history of unethical research attitudes. As societal values are dynamic and change over time, it will be necessary to continuously update research ethical norms so that they can interact with these changes.
