Å dikte hverandre opp i hverandres fravær - En analyse av Vigdis Hjorth sin roman Er mor død (2020) med utgangspunkt i Sigmund Freud sitt begrep "det uhyggelige" (das Unheimliche)

Abstract

I denne bacheloroppgaven blir Vigdis Hjorth sin roman Er mor død (2020) analysert med utgangspunkt i Sigmund Freud sitt begrep «det uhyggelige» (das Unheimliche), som er hentet fra essayet hans med samme navn fra 1919. Av analysen kommer det frem at Hjorth i stor grad har latt seg inspirere av Freud sitt begrep, samtidig som hun har laget sin egen vri på begrepet. I Hjorth sin roman handler «det uhyggelige» om hvordan vi har en tendens til å dikte hverandre opp i hverandres fravær, slik hovedpersonen Johanna dikter opp moren og søsteren sin. Ved å henvise til og bruke Freud sitt begrep «det uhyggelige» som et bevisst formmessig grep understreker Hjorth denne overordnede tematikken.

In this Bachelor´s thesis Sigmund Freud`s term “the unpleasant” (das Unheimliche), from his essay “The unpleasant” (1919), is used to analyze the novel Er mor død (2020), written by the Norwegian author Vigdis Hjorth. The analysis shows that there is a strong link between Hjorth´s novel and Freud´s term, and that Hjorth is making her own twist on Freud´s term in the novel. In Hjorth´s novel “the unpleasant” is centered around how we, in our minds, make up each other in each other´s absence, just like the main character Johanna is making up both her mother and sister. By making the references to Freud´s term, Hjorth are making this, the tendency that we have to make each other up in each other´s absence, the theme of the novel.
