Denne oppgaven ser nærmere på ulike søskenforhold i romanene "The Mill on the Floss" av George Eliot, "Heartsease, or The Brother’s Wife" av Charlotte m. Yonge og "The Woman in White" av Wilkie Collins. Søskenforholdene i disse romanene utfordrer “amatonormative” standarder og normer i fiksjon, noe som skaper spenninger som må løses eller megles til slutt om de påvirker frieri og ekteskap.

This thesis examines different sibling relationships in the novels "The Mill on the Floss" by George Eliot, "Heartsease, or The Brother’s Wife" by Charlotte m. Yonge, and "The Woman in White" by Wilkie Collins. The sibling relationships of these novels challenge amatonormative standards and norms in fiction, creating tensions that must be resolved or mediated by the end if they interfere with courtship and marriage.
