The thesis is based on the treehouses Woodnest in Odda. The main goal is to design the framework of the cabin without supporting ropes, which have been used in the previous version of woodnest. Currently there exits two types of Woodnest, Woodnest 1 and the new design called Woodnest 2. In this thesis we will focus on the latter. The chosen placement of the cabin is Geirangerfjorden due to the ideal weather conditions and the attractiveness of the area. The thesis will only focus on the static analysis of the framework and not the dynamic analysis. Only snow, wind and deadload will be calculated.
The loads are calculated with the help of Norwegian standards and Eurocode. The calculations are mainly done by hand, while the analysis is performed by using Focus Construction, a program based on the finite element method.
The report shows a safe and stable support system that satisfactorily handles the loads the structure is exposed to.
