dc.description.abstractI denne artikkelen viser vi hvordan vi utviklet en ny toalettrullholder for handicaptoaletter. Vi tar for oss hele idéutviklingsprosessen fra idéutvikling til prototyper, med gjennomgående testing og forbedring av løsning. Gjennom ideutviklingsprosessen bruker vi en diverse metoder for å komme oss gjennom skisseprosessen til en videreutviklingsstadiet fortere. Under videreutviklingen simulerte vi nedsettelser for å gjøre tester på produktet som igjen forbedret sluttproduktet.
dc.description.abstractIn this report you will read about how we designed a toilet paper holder for handicap toilets. The design and study for handicap toilets are less than optimal and has a lot of laws around it that makes it hard to design some elements for these toilets. One of these elements are toilet paper holders. Under this process we used design processes like the “café table method” and “quick idea rinsing” to find a design we could work with and develop into a product that could be installed in today's already existing toilets. To make sure our design was designed in a universal way, so most people can use it without help, we ran tests with and changed our design after what we found out. As an example, we tested different types of paper on spiked designs to figure out how the paper would rip, and how easily it would rip. We also did tests where we simulated having a disability to test our product and how we could change the design to favour most people's ability to use it for its intended purpose. We found a design that could fit onto most handicap toilet arms and fits a normal toilet paper roll. It has a shield with spikes to make sure it's easy to rip the paper no matter how much is left on the roll. There are some developments we would have liked to test out, such as specific colours to make it more visible, but we didn't have the time to perform these tests. However, we did run tests for both right- and left-handed people and for people who lack some muscle strength.
