for strukturen ytterligere. Derfor er BLF for strukturen rundt 3,5. En falltest brukes for å bestemme
strukturens beste orientering for støt.
2093 kg per år under produksjon.
dc.description.abstract | A complaint mechanism is a monolithic structure that allows components to deform to the desired form
and force without any link or joint. The use of a compliant mechanism in a design such as a robotic
gripper requires the application of mechanics for the structure to behave with the desired result.
In this assignment literature research for an existing gripper and compliant gripper has been conducted,
along with extensive research on background principles. Background principles which are essential to
research such as mechanics, compliant mechanisms, and FEA. While aiming to create easy maintenance,
low-cost, comprehensive design, versatile, and sustainable compliant robotic gripper.
Several methods have been applied to each stage of compliant gripper production. Starting with
brainstorming the idea, designing the gripper using CAD software such as SolidWorks, and analyzing the
3D model with the application of FEA available in SolidWorks. The simulation done on the 3D model of
a chosen final design are static, buckling, drop test, and structural inspection. Where the aim of the design
is to cause large x displacement while creating the lowest stress in the structure possible. The control
variable in the analysis is the fixed point at the base of the gripper, the downward force acting on the
gripper located on the pulling bar, and the size of the mesh with a general mesh size of 1mm while the
corners are 0.5 mmm. After digital analysis, enters the prototyping stage. Where the final design is printed
with a Prusa 3D printer in PETG. Lastly, the prototype is tested for the life cycle and functionality.
From the test gathered for the analysis, the final design will not yield easily when the product is produced.
Since the design has a high FOS value where the max value is 2.36. Thus, experiences lower stress than
the yield stress of the material. Though, a buckling test was performed to further investigate the safety
factor for the structure. Therefore, BLF for the structure is around 3.5. A drop test is used to determine the
structure’s best orientation for impact. From all the comparisons of the impact that the base, side, and top.
The best orientation is on the side. While the environmental impact of the robotic gripper is considered
sustainable since the product could be recycled back without much change in material properties. Though,
the durability of the gripper is considerably low which might result in carbon emissions of 1892-2093 kg
per year during production.
