Kvinners motstandsarbeid - En analyse av kvinners krigsinnsats fremstilt i avisbilder fra etterkrigstiden

Abstract

Denne oppgaven tar for seg kvinners innsats i motstandskampen mot den tyske okkupasjonen under andre verdenskrig. Formålet med oppgaven er å analysere hvordan norske kvinners innsats i motstandsarbeidet under krigen ble fremstilt gjennom avisbilder i de første par månedene av etterkrigstiden. Krigsårene utgjør den mest diskuterte og skildra perioden i norsk historie, men av de historiene som er blitt fortalt handler hovedparten om menn og menns innsats, mens et fåtall beskriver kvinner og deres rolle i motstandsarbeidet. Gjennom oppgaven vil jeg belyse hvilke fortellinger som eksisterte da friheten nettopp var vunnet. Mengden aviser som ble publisert i etterkrigstiden var stor, og avisbilder kan gjennom sin formidling av dagligliv, politikk og kultur gi informasjon om samtiden de illustrerer og de holdninger som eksisterte i samfunnet. I oppgaven presenteres en analyse av et utvalg av 12 bilder etter en gjennomgang av i overkant av 200 aviser publisert i Oslo, Trøndelag og Nord-Norge i perioden mellom 08. mai og 30. juni 1945. Overordnet kan man si at det finnes relativt få bilder som viser kvinner i motstandsarbeidet. Av de bildene som ble funnet viser størstedelen kvinner i situasjoner som er forenelig med de regjerende kjønnsrollene før og under krigen, med fokus på husmor-rollen og typiske kvinneyrker. Selv om man har kunnskap om at kvinner var aktive i de fleste roller i motstandsarbeidet, kan det virke som om dette ble underkommunisert i avisbildene som er tilgjengelig fra perioden.

This thesis deals with women's efforts in the resistance work against the German occupation during World War II. The purpose of the thesis is to analyze how Norwegian women's efforts in the resistance work during the war were presented through images in newspapers during the first few months of the post-war period. The war years constitute the most discussed and depicted period in Norwegian history, but the majority of stories that have been told are about men and men's efforts, while few describe women and their role in the resistance work. Through the thesis, I will shed light on the stories that existed when freedom had just been won. The number of newspapers published in the post-war period was large, and newspaper images can, through their dissemination of daily life, politics and culture, provide information about the time they illustrate and the attitudes that existed in society. The thesis presents an analysis of a selection of 12 images after a review of more than 200 newspapers published in Oslo, Trøndelag and Nordland in the period between May 8 and June 30, 1945. Overall, it can be said that there are relatively few pictures showing women in the resistance work. Of the images found, the majority show women in situations that are compatible with the ruling gender roles before and during the war, with a focus on the role of housewife and typical female occupations. Although it is known that women were active in most roles in the resistance work, it may seem as if this was less communicated in the newspaper images available from the period.
