The Project explores the term Digital Twin in Automated Manufacturing. A digital twin can be described as a near real time digital image of a physical object or process. The goal of this project was to study different possibilities to create digital twin for automated manufacturing process at MANULAB at NTNU Ålesund. RoboDK Simulation software was used to create three different level of integrated digital twin of automated manufacturing process. First level of integration was defined when the transfer of data was manual from digital system to physical system. The second level of integrated digital twin was defined when flow of data was digital from digital system to physical system. And third level of integration was defined when flow of data was digital from physical system to digital system. Most of the work done in this project was to set up this different level of integrated digital twins at manulab. It was concluded that the implementation of digital twin in automated manufacturing was successfully studied and in-dept knowledge of development of different level of integration of digital twin at MANULAB was obtained. In the end, areas which had scope for future development were suggested.
