Tilpasning av læreverk i naturfag for 4.trinn mot kompetansemål om immunforsvar fra LK20

Abstract

Denne oppgaven tar for seg samsvaret mellom lærebøker og læreplaner i naturfag for 4.trinn, med fokus på temaet immunforsvar. Forskningsspørsmålet for oppgaven er:

Hvordan bør nåværende læreverk i naturfag for 4.trinn endres for å dekke kompetansemålet om immunforsvar i LK20?

Lærebøker har en tradisjon med å ha en sentral rolle i skolene i Norge. De er lovpålagte til å samsvare med læreplaner, slik at de kan benyttes av lærere på en hensiktsmessig måte for å bidra til å utdanne elever som møter samfunnets standard. Til tross for at læreverkene har stått sterkt i skolene, er det lite forskning på samsvaret mellom lærebøker og nye læreplaner, eller hvordan lærebøkene bør tilpasses når det blir utformet nye læreplaner. Dette har både vært det utfordrende med oppgaven, samt det spennende, da denne oppgaven kan være med på å få dette frem i lyset.

For å forsøke å svare på forskningsspørsmålet har det blitt foretatt en kvalitativ tverrsnittsundersøkelse av to lærebøker i naturfag for 4.trinn, samt tilhørende læreplan. Datamaterialet består av tekstutdrag fra bøkene, og relevante kompetansemål fra læreplanene.

Analysen av dette datamaterialet har vist at det er samsvar mellom lærebøkene og læreplanene, men at vektleggingen av ulike kompetansemål er ulik hos de forskjellige lærebøkene. Disse resultatene har vært utgangspunkt for å svare på hvordan de nåværende lærebøkene bør endres for å dekke kompetansemålet om immunforsvar i LK20 for etter 4.trinn. Ved å fokusere på hva som står i den nye læreplanen, og fjerne det som ikke lenger står for det gjeldene trinnet, vil det være godt samsvar mellom læreboken og læreplanen, slik det er lovpålagt fra Opplæringsloven.

This thesis deals with the correspondence between textbooks and curricula in science for 4th grade, with a focus on the topic of the immune system. The research question for the thesis is:

How should the current teaching material in science for 4th grade be changed to cover the competence ain concerning the immune system in LK20?

Textbooks traditionally play a central role in schools in Norway. They are required by law to comply with curricula so that they can be used by teachers in an appropriate way to help educate students to meet society's standards. Despite the fact that the textbooks have been important, there is little research on the correspondence between textbooks and new curricula, or how the textbooks should be adapted when new curricula are written. This has been both challenging when writing this thesis, as well as exciting, as this thesis can help to bring this to light.

In order to try to answer the research question, a qualitative cross-sectional study of two textbooks in science for 4th grade, as well as the associated curriculum, has been carried out. The data material consists of excerpts from the books, and relevant competence aims from the curricula.

The analysis of this data material has shown that there is correspondence between the textbooks and the curricula, but that the emphasis on different competence aims is different in the different textbooks. These results have been the starting point for answering how the current textbooks should be adapted to cover the competence aim concerning the immune system in LK20 for after 4th grade. By focusing on what is in the new curriculum, and removing what no longer is written for the relevant year, there will be a good correspondence between the textbook and the curriculum, as required by law from the Education Act.
