dc.description.abstract | Since the early advent of technology in the late 70’s, the bureaucracy production of records has grown exponentially. This is in many ways a good thing, but for archival institutions the amount of documentation places work routines, systems, and management under increased strain. To alleviate some of the pressure it’s become more and more common to compensate with the use of automation. As it stands in 2021, there is great impetus to automate as many routine tasks as possible. Automation like this should, and need to be grounded in laws and regulations, to ensure the capture and storage of crucial information. The Norwegian government in 2019 proposed at new archival law, which in many areas improves on the existing one, and considers the challenges that comes with digitalization.
This paper is about how NOU 2019:9 handles known risks to digital archives and electronic documentation. The main themes in this paper is capture of documentation, production of metadata, migration and media-conversion, disposal, maintenance, and access. These themes contain many different dangers to electronic documentation, and through these dangers this paper seeks to understand to what degree NOU 2019:9 have elaborated and considered the risks that comes with electronic documentation.
