LITT MER CHAMPAGNE I MELLOMGULVET! Sangmetaforer i spennet mellom kropp og språk.

Abstract

Denne studien er en undersøkelse av metaforer i sangundervisning i høyere utdanning i lys av kognitiv og diskursorientert metaforteori. Med et sosialkonstruksjonistisk utgangspunkt, hvor språket ikke bare er speilende, men skapende for virkeligheten, søker denne studien å undersøke sangmetaforer og om metaforene kan gi uttrykk for underliggende tankerammer eller sanglige forståelser som bidrar til å konstruere den sanglige virkeligheten. Gjennom en videoobservasjon av klassisk sangundervisning på universitetsnivå og en kartlegging av metaforene som benyttes i undervisningen identifiseres fire underliggende metaforer; TONEN ER ET FYSISK OBJEKT, KLANG ER FARGE, TONEN ER ET MENNESKE og KROPPEN ER EN BEHOLDER. Disse metaforene utgjør grunnlaget for en videre analyse av hvilken sanglig virkelighet som kan konstrueres gjennom metaforene. Analysen viser at sangmetaforer formidler opplevelsen av å synge, konstruerer historier, gir den abstrakte musikken intensjon, gjør den konkrete kroppen abstrakt, pasifiserer kroppen og konstruerer et skille mellom kropp og sang.

This study in an examination of the use of metaphors in the teaching of singing in a Norwegian University. The study draws on social constructionism, cognitive and discourse oriented metaphor theory and the main focus of the study is the examination of what metaphors are used in the teaching of singing, and how these metaphors play a part in the construction of the teacher and students reality. Through a mapping of the metaphors used, four underlying structures are revealed; THE TONE IS A PHYSICAL OBJECT, RESONANCE IS COLOR, THE TONE IS A HUMAN BEING and THE BODY IS A CONTAINER. These metaphorical constructs are further examined and shows that singing metaphors convey the physical and auditory sensation of singing, construct stories, gives the abstract concept of music intention, makes the body abstract, pacify the body and constructs a divide between the body and song.
