dc.description.abstract
A partnership is one of several different entry strategies into a foreign market. For many firms, partnerships can provide local knowledge and access to an established network. However, these partnerships might cause the firm a resource gap if the partnership is inadequate. By examining a single-case study of a Norwegian tech-company together with a literature review, this paper argues a larger effort should be put into self-assessing a firm’s internal resources prior to the partner selection. As the literature does not suggest an optimal way of conducting selfassessments, this study propose a VRIO-assessment of a firm’s internal resources. Further research into this topic should explore how different methods of self-assessment affect a partnership’s success.
