Problemstilling «Hvordan kan sykepleier innen psykisk helsearbeid i kommunehelsetjenesten bidra til å fremme god psykisk helse for mennesker med psykisk lidelse?»

Hensikt Hensikten er å utforske sykepleier sitt bidrag innen psykisk helsearbeid i kommunehelsetjenesten. Temaet er valgt med den hensikt å fordype seg i, og utforske dette fagfeltet.

Metode Oppgaven baserer seg på systematisk litteratursøk. Helsefaglige søkedatabaser er benyttet for å finne artikler i samsvar med søkeordene fra problemstillingen. Videre har vi sammenlignet og funnet paralleller mellom de ulike artiklene. Temaene danner bakgrunnen for diskusjon, hvor vi kobler inn teori for å underbygge våre poengteringer og konklusjoner.

Resultat I resultatet presenteres følgende funn: Tema 1: Sykepleier sin rolle – hva er/skal være sykepleier sin rolle innen fagfeltet? Tema 2: Utfordringer relatert til helsefremming – organisatoriske; kultur- og holdningsrelaterte; pasientrelaterte; personalrelaterte. Tema 3: Fysisk helseomsorg – manglende oppfølgning av somatikk er en trussel mot pasientenes helse. Tema 4: Kommunikasjon og relasjon – viktigheten av godt samspill mellom pasient og pleier, samt kompetansehevning og trening for helsepersonellet.

Konklusjon Helsefremming hos pasienter med psykiske lidelser er en krevende prosess som utfordrer sykepleiere til å bruke sine ferdigheter og kunnskaper i hensikten å hjelpe pasientene med å mestre sin situasjon samt hindre forverring gjennom fysisk helseomsorg.

Abstract

Research question “How may the community mental health nurse contribute to the promotion of good mental health in patients with mental illness?”

Aim The aim of this assignment is to explore nursing contributions in community mental health care. The theme is chosen with the aim of enhancing our knowledge about this subject.

Method The assignment is based on a systematic review of scientific articles regarding the chosen subject. Medical databases have been utilized to find research that correlates to our research question. Further on, the process has consisted of a comparison between the different studies, preliminary to a summary and comparison of the themes of the different articles. These topics provides a foundation for us, from which we can form a discussion. Linking the findings between the articles with theory provided help substantiate our conclusions.

Results In the results section, the following findings are presented: Theme 1: Nurses’ role – what is/shall be the role of the nurse in this nursing specialty? Theme 2: Challenges related to health promotion – organizational; culture- and attitude-related; patient-related; staff-related. Theme 3: Physical health care – lack of somatic follow-up substantiates a threat towards patient health. Theme 4: Communication and relation – the importance of good interaction between patient and nurse, in addition to skills development and training for the nursing staff.

Conclusion Health promotion in patients with mental health illness is a demanding process that challenge nurses to utilize their skills and knowledge to help patients master their situation as well as preventing aggravation through physical health care.
