Kan sykepleier ved hjelp av motiverende kommunikasjon bidra til bedre helse, for unge voksne med et helseskadelig alkoholproblem?
Abstract
SammendragBakgrunn: Jeg har valgt å skrive om motiverende samtale som hovedtema, da dette er en samtaleteknikk/metode man kan bruke i møte med flere pasientgrupper hvor det er behov for endring av livsstil for å bedre helse. Jeg vil bli bruke begrep som MI og motiverende intervju for motiverende kommunikasjon i denne studien.Problemstilling: Kan sykepleier ved hjelp av motiverende kommunikasjon bidra til bedre helse, for unge voksne med et helseskadelig alkoholproblem?
Metode: Jeg ønsker å undersøke ved hjelp av litteratur og forskning, å undersøke om pasientgruppen, sett fra sykepleiers perspektiv, kan ha nytte av motiverende samtale som teknikk for å styrke denne pasientgruppens egenomsorg, redusere helseproblem.
Resultat: Hensikten med denne litteraturstudien har vært å belyse temaet motiverende kommunikasjon, MI og sykepleiers rolle i denne type kommunikasjon opp mot rusavhengig ungdom. Det helsefremmende aspektet ble en større del av studien etter å ha studert forskingsartiklene dypere og en sammenheng mellom MI og helsefremming kunne ses.
Konklusjon: Alkoholavhengighet er ofte et sammensatt helseproblem, hvor psykisk og somatisk helse spiller en stor rolle. Sykepleier kan benytte motiverende kommunikasjon for å hjelpe pasienten å bygge opp motivasjon, tro på mestring og få håp for fremtiden. Sykepleier kartlegger pasientens behov, gir individuelt tilpasset behandling, dette styrker pasientens anerkjennelse av egen situasjon og helseproblem. Autonomi og endrings motivasjon styrkes, pasienten kan klare å ta egne ressurser i bruk for å bedre sin livskvalitet.

MI as a communication tool and technic is a method one can use as a nurse, when we meet a patient who has a need for change. I focus on alcohol abuse as a destructive behavior a patient need to change to gain back a better health for himself. I will use terms like MI, motivational interviewing and motivational communication within this study.Question: Can a nurse, with the help of motivational communication, contribute to better health, for young adults with an alcohol problem that is harmful to their health?Method: A study based on relevant literature and research material. To research if from a nurse’s point of view, MI can strengthen motivational behavior for change of lifestyle for this group of patients. If MI can help reduce the «young adult patient’s» health problem.Result: The health-promoting aspect became a larger part of the study after studying the research articles in more depth and a connection between MI and health promotion could be seen. Research can show a connection with MI and how nurses can help to build motivation, give hope and recognition, in order for the patient to take hold of his own resources and change his health for the better.
Conclusion: Alcohol problems can often result in several and complexed health problems, mental and somatic health play a major part. The nurse can use motivational communication to help the patient build motivation, believe in himself, coping and gain hope for the future. If the nurse, provides individual care, it will strengthen the patient's recognition of their own situation and health problem. Autonomy and motivation to change behavior can be seen as combined, the patient can manage to use their own resources to improve their quality of life.
