Sammendrag
The objective is to discuss Don DeLillo & David Cronenberg as postmodern auteurs by exploring their ambivalent portrayals of the relationship between people and technology, with their common opus, Cosmopolis as a focal point. In order to best highlight these ambivalent portrayals, I will discuss postmodern terms like the technological sublime and postmodern space and look into to what extent DeLillo and Cronenberg applies these terms, as well as other postmodern traits. DeLillo and Cronenberg are both masters of separate mediums, DeLillo a renowned American author and Cronenberg an acknowledged Canadian filmmaker. DeLillo’s Cosmopolis was published in 2003, while Cronenberg adapted and directed the film version that was released in 2012.
