endringsprosesser i størst mulig grad.
redusere usikkerhet i organisasjoner.
gunstig. | |
dc.description.abstract | Abstract
Through this thesis, we want to find out more about the concept of tailoring related to change
processes. We decided that Mind AS, a company that has management and organizational
development as its area of operation, would be a great starting point to take a closer look at
the advantages and disadvantages of tailoring. The research question for the thesis is the
following:
"To what extent is tailoring necessary to carry out a successful change process?"
To be able to conclude, we performed qualitative research with respondents from Mind.
Through interviews, we discovered several interesting findings such as tailoring causing
challenges for new employees, as there is no "recipe" for how to execute the various parts of
the organizational change processes. This means that new employees must learn from the
more experienced employees, which is time-consuming and causes unnecessary use of
limited resources.
The counterpart of tailoring is standardization. The thesis will also shed light on
standardization as an alternative to tailoring, and look at knowledge organizations’
opportunities to utilize both tailoring and standardization to maximize efficiency during the
change process. The concept of “Lean Management” is an important theory used throughout
the thesis, in addition to Kotter and Lewin who are known for their theories on organizational
change processes. Sensemaking will also have its place in the thesis to highlight the
importance of reducing uncertainty in organizations.
The results from the thesis tend towards tailoring being a necessity in knowledge
organizations, as a complete standardization would result in the company no longer being a
knowledge organization. Nevertheless, through theory and findings from the research, several
things point in the direction that a certain degree of standardization would be both effective
and beneficial. | |
