Dobbelteksponering som uttrykk for Hannah Ryggens kunstneriske innlevelse: En analyse av Grå figur

Abstract

Mellom 1960 og 1961 vevet den norsksvenske kunstneren Hannah Ryggen (1894-1970) billedteppet Grå figur. Verket fikk stor oppmerksomhet da det stod ferdig, og i intervjuer i ulike aviser beskriver Ryggen verksmotivet som både en framstilling av et offer for Hiroshimabombingen i 1945, og som et selvportrett. Denne dobbeltheten i verksmotivet, eller dobbelteksponeringen, vil jeg i denne bacheloroppgaven undersøke for å få et innblikk i Hannah Ryggens humanistiske engasjement.

Between 1960 and 1961, the Norwegian-Swedish artist, Hannah Ryggen wove the tapestry Grey figure. When the artwork was completed, it received high appraisal, and when interviewed in different newspapers Ryggen described the motif of the tapestry as both a victim of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945, and as a self-portrait. This duality in the motif of the work, or the double exposure, is what I am going to examine in this bachelor thesis, to gain insight in Hannah Ryggen`s humanistic beliefs.
