Ghost loads: what is the cost of invisible speculation?
(Chapter, 2019)Speculative execution is necessary for achieving high performance on modern general-purpose CPUs but, starting with Spectre and Meltdown, it has also been proven to cause severe security flaws. In case of a misspeculation, ... -
The Ghost of the Hawk: Top Predator Shaping Bird Communities in Space and Time
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2021)Despite the wide recognition that strongly interacting species can influence distributions of other species, species interactions are often disregarded when assessing or projecting biodiversity distributions. In particular, ... -
"Gi meg en sjanse!" Minoritetsfamilier med funksjonshemmete barn i Bydel Bjerke
(Research report, 2008)Prosjektet ”Minoritetsfamilier med funksjonshemmede barn” kom i gang etter langvarig kontakt mellom by-del Bjerke i Oslo og NTNU Samfunnsforskning i Trondheim. IMDI bevilget prosjekter til en pilotstudie som ble gjennom ... -
Giant Cell Arteritis Presenting with Mania, Psychosis, and Cognitive Dysfunction: A Case Report
(Journal article; Peer reviewed, 2023) -
Giant Functional Properties in Porous Electroceramics through Additive Manufacturing of Capillary Suspensions
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2022)Dedicated hierarchical structuring of functional ceramics can be used to shift the limits of functionality. This work presents the manufacturing of highly open porous, hierarchically structured barium titanate ceramics ... -
Giant paleo-seafloor craters and mass wasting associated with magma-induced uplift of the upper crust
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2022)Giant seafloor craters are known along many a continental margin with recurrent mass-wasting deposits. However, the impact of breakup-related magmatism on the evolution of such craters is barely understood. Using high-quality ... -
Giant Stretchability and Reversibility of Tightly Wound Helical Carbon Nanotubes
(Journal article; Peer reviewed, 2013)There is a surging interest in 3D graphitic nanostructures which possess outstanding properties enabling them to be prime candidates for a new generation of nanodevices and energy-absorbing materials. Here we study the ... -
Giant triplet proximity effect in π-biased Josephson junctions with spin-orbit coupling
(Journal article, 2015)In diffusive Josephson junctions the phase difference φ between the superconductors strongly influences the spectroscopic features of the layer separating them. The observation of a uniform minigap and its phase modulation ... -
Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo simulation of fluids in confinement: Relation between the differential and integral pressures
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2020)The accurate description of the behavior of fluids in nanoporous materials is of great importance for numerous industrial applications. Recently, a new approach was reported to calculate the pressure of nanoconfined fluids. ... -
Gibbs thermodynamics and surface properties at the nanoscale
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2021)Gibbs’s classical thermodynamic framework approximates systems as infinitely large phases separated by infinitely thin surfaces. The range of validity of this classical framework comes naturally under scrutiny as we become ... -
Gibbs-like phenomenon inherent in a lumped element model of a rod
(Journal article; Peer reviewed, 2017)The underlying assumption of a lumped element model is that a spatially distributed physical system can be approximated by a topology of discrete entities. The impact of this assumption is illustrated by a model of a ... -
GIF Image Retrieval in Cloud Computing Environment
(Journal article; Peer reviewed, 2018)GIF images have been used in the last years, especially on social media. Here it is explored a content-based image retrieval system to work specifically with GIF file format. Its implementation is extended to a cloud ... -
The Gift of the Eye - Mortuary ritual performed by the Jadopatias in the Santal villages of Bengal and Bihar, India
(Trondheim Occasional paper in Social Anthropology;, Research report, 2001)The Jadopatia has found a niche working among the Santals. The work he performs is connected with the fate of the deceased Santal. These ritual acts are firmly planted in the world-view and ritual context of the Santal as ... -
Gifted Students and Gradeless Formative Assessment: A Case Study From Norway
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2023)This case study focused on students’ experiences with gradeless formative assessment at a center for gifted students. Twenty-two students attending one of the six talent centers in Norway participated. A questionnaire with ... -
Gigahertz Femtosecond Cr:ZnS Laser
(Chapter, 2014)We demonstrate the first Cr:ZnS laser with a gigahertz pulse repetition rate. The passively mode-locked by the graphene-based mirror laser provides 105 mW output power with 180 fs pulse duration and 110 pJ pulse energy. -
Ginnerup Revisited. New Excavations at a Key Neolithic Site on Djursland, Denmark
(Peer reviewed; Journal article, 2023)New excavations of an enclosure–related site at Ginnerup on Djursland, Denmark, in 2020 resulted in the identification of several features contain-ing depositions of marine shells. One of these, A4, is a natural depression ... -
