Sammendrag
This master thesis addresses the following research question: ‘How do workers in the helping services experience a coordinated local service effort for people with combined substance-abuse (drugs/alcohol) and mental health problems in a small coast community in northern Norway?’
This interdisciplinary and cross-sectorial way of coordinating and providing services requires new ways of thinking and working together. This study investigated the experiences and opinions of those involved in this new way of working together to address the daily life issues for people with double-diagnosis. Data were gathered using qualitative interviews, and were analysed from a hermeneutic interpretational stance and using a grounded-theory inspired approach to systematise and interpret the collected data. Knowledge about childhood and adolescence for this double diagnosis group was utilised, and in turn supports, theories about stigma, labelling and social constructionism.
