Hvordan har Hurtigruten AS valgt å utruste skipet M/S "Richard With" for å oppnå effektiv balanse i manøverkarakteristikk mellom kort- og langdistanse?

Abstract

I denne bachelor-oppgaven setter vi søkelyset på hvilket fremdriftssystem som er om bord i hurtigruteskipet «Richard With».

For å forstå «Richard With» sin utrustning for fremdrift og manøvrering, kan det være nyttig å se på regjeringens anbudsutlysning. Kravene der gir innsikt i hvordan skipet må være utrustet for å tilfredsstille kravene. Om «Richard With» ikke tilfredsstiller disse kravene i kontrakten, vil ikke fartøyet kunne benyttes uten ombygginger. Potensielt kan oppdraget da gå tapt for Hurtigruten. Dette vil medføre tapte inntekter.

Dette bachelor-prosjektet har vært utfordrende og tidkrevende i en tid hvor pandemi er blitt en realitet. Dette har medført begrensninger i informasjonsinnhentingen. Vi har med hjelp fra Hurtigruten AS fått vite hvilke komponenter som finnes om bord. Ved hjelp av disse opplysningene har gruppen analysert og drøftet skipets utrustning i sammenheng med skipets operasjonelle behov.

Gruppen konkluderer at «Richard With» har god balanse i manøvreringskarakteristikk med tanke på både langdistanseseilas og manøvrering til kai. Likevel finnes det rom for ytterligere forbedringer.

To understand the maneuvering equipment on «Richard With», it might be useful to take a look at the government’s announcement of tender. The contract between the government and Hurtigruten AS gives an insight in what features the vessel must have to satisfy the given standards. If the vessel does not comply, Hurtigruten AS might lose their chance to get a contract of sailing Kystruten: Bergen-Kirkenes. This will cause lost income for the corporation.

This project has been challenging and time-consuming because of the pandemic Corona. The pandemic has caused us limitations regarding the gathering of information. With help from Hurtigruten AS we got to know the basic components of «Richard With». Based on this knowledge the group analyzed and discussed its features in context with the ship’s operational needs.

The group has come to the conclusion that «Richard With» has a good balance in its maneuver characteristics, both long distance and maneuvering in port. Still, there are factors that could be improved.
