Forførelsesfremstillinger fra folkediktning til postmodernisme: En komparativ analyse av "Elverskud", "Erlkönig" og "The Erl-King"

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven er en komparativ analyse av de tre verkene “Erlkönig”, “Elverskud” og “The Erl-King”. Den danske folkevisen “Elverskud” skal ha inspirert Goethe til å skrive sitt kjente dikt "Erlkönig", som siden inspirerte Angela Carter til å skrive sin postmodernistiske novelle “The Erl-King”. I denne bacheloroppgaven analyseres forførelsesmotivet i de tre verkene i forhold til forførelsesteori fra henholdsvis folkediktning, libertinisme og postmodernisme, deriblant brødrene Grimms ordbok, 'Libertinske strategier 1620-1789' av Knut-Stene Johansen og Baudrillards 'De la Séduction'. Er det mulig å finne en sammenheng mellom gjeldende forførelsesteorier og forførelsesframstillingene som forekommer i de tre verkene? Med utgangspunkt i folkediktningens alvemotiv tar oppgaven stilling til sentrale temaer tilknyttet forførelse som fiksjon, performativitet, fantasi, illusjon, kjærlighet, erotikk og død. Målet er å kaste nytt lys over en hittil uutforsket kobling mellom ulike forførelsesframstillinger sett i en litteraturhistorisk kontekst.

This bachelor thesis is a comparative analysis of the three works “Erlkönig”, “Elverskud” and “The Erl-King”. The danish folk song “Elverskud” allegedly inspired Goethe to write his famous poem “Erkönig”, which in turn inspired Angela Carter to write her postmodern short story “The Erl-King”. In this bachelor thesis, the motive of seduction is analysed in relation to seduction theory from folk poetry, libertinism and postmodernism, using inter alia the dictionary of the Brothers Grimm, 'Libertinske strategier 1620-1789' by Knut-Stene Johansen and Baudrillards 'De la Séduction'. Is it possible to find a connection between these seduction theories and the way in which seduction is portrayed in the three works? Using the Elvish motive as a starting point, this thesis addresses central themes connected to seduction like fiction, performativity, fantasy, illusion, love, eroticism and death. Its aim is to shed new light upon a hitherto unexplored connection between different depictions of seduction as seen in a literary context.
